Reverse description The reverse presents a highly detailed sculptural depiction of the Great Sphinx of Giza, shown in three-quarter frontal view with the iconic nemes headdress and weathered limestone body rendered in high relief. The layered erosion of the monument's body is faithfully reproduced across the lower portion of the field, conveying the ancient and monumental character of the subject. The Sphinx's face is rendered with careful attention to its worn features, including the remains of the uraeus on the forehead. The design fills the majority of the coin's field and is enclosed within a beaded border. No inscriptions appear on this face.
