| Obverse description | The obverse is printed in blue and carries the bank's heraldic arms vignette at lower left, accompanied by a thistle plant motif along the left margin. The centre bears the denomination ONE HUNDRED POUNDS STERLING in large intaglio lettering within an elaborate guilloche underprint, with the place of payment EDINBURGH and the date 1st November, 1957 inscribed below. The serial number appears twice in the upper right and lower left, with two manuscript facsimile signatures of the Cashier and General Manager printed at the foot. |
