Reverse description A lone World War I soldier in full kit stands upright amid a devastated battlefield landscape of broken, bare trees and tangled barbed wire, rendered in polished gold relief against a blackened mirror field. A horizontal reflective band bisects the design, in which the soldier's mirror image transforms into a kneeling figure in a posture of prayer or mourning, evoking the contrast between the living and the fallen. A stylised poppy appears in the lower field beneath the reflection. The upper legend THE END OF THE GREAT WAR arcs above the scene, while the central band bears the inscription 1914 WWI CENTENARY 1918, and ONE HUNDRED POUNDS is inscribed along the lower border.
