The Commercial Bank of Scotland's £100 denomination was always a high-value instrument in limited practical circulation — by the late 1940s, few Scottish banknotes of this value ever passed through ordinary commerce. Most moved between banks and large commercial houses, which is precisely why surviving examples from this period tend to show light wear rather than none at all; they did move, just not through many hands.
Bradbury Wilkinson handled Scottish commercial bank printing for several issuers during this stretch, working from their New Malden facility. The Commercial Bank itself merged into the National Commercial Bank of Scotland in 1959, ending the series entirely.
