Obverse description Uncrowned right-facing effigy of King Charles III occupies the central field, modelled in high relief by sculptor Martin Jennings. The portrait renders the King in a naturalistic style without regalia, with closely observed facial detail and softly textured hair. The circumferential legend reads CHARLES III·D·G·REX·F·D·100 POUNDS· in raised Latin characters arranged around the periphery of the finely engine-turned background. The engraver's initials MJ appear discreetly beneath the truncation of the portrait.
