Additional information

This coin belongs to the first full year of Royal Mint gold bullion production under Charles III, whose accession in September 2022 required an entirely new obverse portrait to be commissioned from sculptor Martin Jennings — the first change to the monarch's portrait on British coinage in over seventy years. Jennings' effigy faces left, continuing the tradition of alternating portrait direction with each successive reign, a practice the Royal Mint has maintained since Charles II.

KM#2410 is among the earliest catalog references assigned to Charles III bullion issues, reflecting how quickly the series was brought to market in the months following the Queen's death.
