The "Without horizontal bars" designation distinguishes this from an earlier printing variant — a subtle but catalogued security modification made during the series run. Oberthur Fiduciaire, the French security printer behind this note, introduced the change quietly enough that the two types circulated simultaneously for a period without public awareness of any distinction.

The abaca fiber content is the more historically rooted detail. Abaca — Manila hemp, native to the Philippines — has been used in specialty paper for over a century, and its inclusion here is a deliberate nod to a domestic agricultural product with deep economic significance to the archipelago. The 80/20 cotton-abaca blend is specific to Philippine currency and not standard for Oberthur's other clients.
