| Comments |
This series was introduced as Uruguay transitioned away from the older Nuevos Pesos denomination following the 1993 monetary reform, which dropped three zeros and reintroduced the historic "Peso Uruguayo" name. The long print window — stretching to 2000 — reflects the relatively stable low-inflation environment Uruguay maintained through the 1990s, a sharp contrast to the hyperinflationary crises that had necessitated repeated redenominations in previous decades.
Thomas De La Rue's security provision for this series is notably sparse by their usual standards — watermark only, with no metallic thread or other substrate-level features documented for P#76.
