Obverse description The Mexican national arms occupy the gold centre field, depicting an eagle displayed facing left, perched upon a nopal cactus rising from a rocky outcrop, devouring a serpent grasped in its beak and right talon. The device is rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished field. The surrounding silver ring bears the encircling legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS along the upper arc, flanked at the base by an oak and laurel wreath tied with a ribbon.
