Obverse description The obverse features two coats of arms displayed prominently in the field: the national arms of Cuba to the left, comprising a shield quartered with a key, a royal palm, and blue-and-white stripes, encircled by a wreath of oak and laurel branches surmounted by a Phrygian cap atop a fasces; and to the right, the municipal arms of Santiago de Cuba, depicted with a mural crown, a central escutcheon with an equestrian figure, flanked by a quiver of arrows. The legend REPUBLICA DE CUBA arcs around the upper periphery, with the fineness mark 1 OZ AU 0.999 inscribed below it. The denomination 100 PESOS appears in large bold numerals at the lower left field. A fine beaded border frames the entire design.
