Obverse description The Mexican national coat of arms occupies the silver centre field, depicting a left-facing golden eagle perched on a prickly pear cactus growing from a rocky islet, devouring a serpent in its beak and talons. The design faithfully reproduces the official escudo nacional, with detailed rendering of the cactus pads and an ornamental wreath of oak and laurel branches tied at the base adorning the aluminium bronze ring. The circular legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS runs along the upper arc of the outer ring in raised Latin letters.
