Obverse description The Mexican national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a Mexican golden eagle perched on a prickly pear cactus growing from a rocky islet, with a serpent clutched in its beak and talons. The device is encircled by a wreath of oak and laurel branches tied at the base. The national legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS arcs along the upper periphery in raised Latin letters.

Reverse description A forward-facing portrait bust of José María Morelos y Pavón, the Mexican independence hero, is centrally rendered in bold relief. The denomination CIEN PESOS appears to the left of the bust, while the mint mark Mo and date 1976 are positioned to the right. The lower exergue bears the inscription PLATA PURA 25 Gr, denoting the metal and its weight. The overall design is consistent with the prooflike finish characteristic of this pattern issue.
