| Obverse description | The obverse features the Mexican national coat of arms rendered in high relief within the gold centre, depicting a Mexican golden eagle with wings displayed and head turned to the left, perched upon a prickly pear cactus growing from a rock amid water, devouring a serpent coiled in its beak and talons. The design is executed in the gold inner disc set against a polished field, while the outer silver ring bears the national legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS arching along the upper periphery in raised Latin characters. The lower portion of the silver ring is decorated with an ornate laurel and oak wreath tied at the base with a ribbon, framing the composition in the traditional manner of Mexican coinage. |
