Additional information

This issue belongs to Mexico's long-running "Estados de la República Mexicana" series, which began in 2003 and dedicated one coin to each of the country's 31 states plus the Federal District. Jalisco's entry appeared in the second year of the program. The series was authorized under a mandate to promote national identity through circulating commemorative coinage, though the silver-core bimetallic construction made most examples too valuable for ordinary pocket change — they circulated in name more than in practice.

KM#750 is one of the more frequently encountered issues from the run, Jalisco being among Mexico's most populous states.
