Obverse description The obverse features the Mexican national coat of arms rendered in the silver centre: a Mexican golden eagle perched in profile upon a prickly pear cactus growing from a rocky outcrop, devouring a serpent clutched in its beak and talons. The design is executed in high relief against a smooth field. The aluminium bronze outer ring bears an oak and laurel branch tied with a bow at the base, flanking the circumferential legend. The legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS arcs along the upper portion of the ring in raised Latin capitals.
