Obverse description The silver centre field bears the Mexican national coat of arms in high relief, depicting an eagle displayed facing left, perched on a prickly pear cactus rising from a rocky outcrop amid water, grasping a serpent in its beak and talons. The design is rendered in meticulous detail with finely engraved feathers and foliage. The aluminium bronze outer ring carries the legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS along the upper arc, flanked at the base by an ornamental wreath of oak and laurel branches tied with a ribbon.
