Reverse description The silver centre presents a faithful reproduction of the obverse of the 8-escudo gold coin struck during the First Mexican Empire in 1822, depicting the right-facing laureate portrait of Emperor Agustín I (Agustín de Iturbide) with the legend AUGUSTINUS DEI PROVIDENTIA and the date 1822 in the lower field. The aluminium bronze outer ring carries the series legend along the upper arc, the mint mark Mo to the left, the issue year 2013 to the right, and the denomination $100 in the lower arc. A border of raised beads delineates the boundary between the silver centre and the gold-toned ring.
