Obverse description Black intaglio on pale paper; the central field carries a guilloche vignette enclosing the large numeral '100', flanked by two oval portrait medallions — a bearded male figure at left and a mustachioed male figure at right. The bold arch 'EL ESTADO DE SONORA' heads the note with 'PAGARÁ AL PORTADOR EN EFECTIVO' below it, while 'CIEN PESOS' occupies a decorative panel at centre-bottom; issue place 'Hermosillo, Sonora' and date 'México, Marzo 1º de 1915' are set at upper left and upper right respectively, with red serial numbers and series letter 'M' at both upper corners. Four manuscript signatures appear along the lower margin above the American Bank Note Company imprint.
