Obverse description The Mexican national coat of arms occupies the silver centre field, depicting a Mexican golden eagle perched on a prickly pear cactus growing from a rock, devouring a serpent in its beak, all rendered in high relief. The eagle is shown in left profile with wings partially spread. A decorative wreath of oak and laurel branches frames the lower portion of the ring, tied with a ribbon at the base. The legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS arcs along the upper portion of the aluminium bronze ring in raised Latin lettering.
