Obverse description The obverse features the Mexican national coat of arms rendered in high-relief proof finish at centre, occupying the gold inner disc: a Mexican golden eagle perched upon a prickly pear cactus growing from a rock amid water, devouring a serpent, with an oak and laurel wreath below. The surrounding silver ring bears the national legend arcing along the upper periphery. The overall composition is framed by a plain border with fine decorative details at the juncture of the two metallic zones.
