Obverse description The silver centre features the Mexican national coat of arms, depicting a Mexican golden eagle perched on a prickly pear cactus growing from a rock in a lake, devouring a serpent grasped in its beak and right talon, with its wings spread in profile view. A wreath of oak and laurel branches, tied with a ribbon, frames the lower portion of the inner disc. The encircling aluminium bronze ring bears the legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS arcing along the upper periphery in raised Latin characters.
