Obverse description The Cuban national coat of arms occupies the central field, featuring a shield divided into three quarters: the upper section depicts a rising sun over a key between two promontories, the lower left quarter displays alternating blue and white stripes representing the original departments of Cuba, and the lower right quarter bears a royal palm tree. The shield is surmounted by a Phrygian cap on a pike and flanked by two laurel and oak branches tied at the base. The denomination '100 PESOS' appears in the lower legend, with '1 OZ' to the left and 'AU 0.999' to the right. The arc legend 'REPUBLICA DE CUBA' is inscribed along the upper periphery in Latin letters.

Reverse description A full-length standing figure of Jose Marti, the Cuban national hero and poet, depicted in the manner of a monumental statue; he is shown in formal 19th-century attire — frock coat and waistcoat — with his right arm raised and extended in an oratorical gesture, while his left arm holds a draped garment at his side. The figure stands upon a sculpted rocky pedestal. The name 'Jose Marti' is inscribed in script lettering to the left of the figure, and the date '2001' with a small mintmark appears to the right. The arc legend '106 ANIVERSARIO DE SU CAIDA EN COMBATE' runs along the upper periphery, commemorating the 106th anniversary of his death in battle.
