| Obverse description | The Cuban national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a shield divided into three sections: the upper portion bearing a rising sun over a key between two landmasses, the lower-left bearing blue and white diagonal stripes, and the lower-right bearing a royal palm tree flanked by a fasces. The shield is surmounted by a Phrygian cap bearing a star, and is flanked by sprays of oak leaves to the left and laurel to the right, tied at the base. The circumscribed legend reads REPUBLICA DE CUBA along the upper arc, with 1 OZ to the lower left and AU 0.999 to the lower right, and the denomination 100 PESOS in the lower exergue. A rope-twist border frames the entire design. |
