Obverse description The silver centre field features the Mexican national coat of arms, depicting a golden eagle perched on a prickly pear cactus atop a rock rising from a lake, devouring a serpent, rendered in high relief. The aluminium bronze outer ring bears the legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS arching along the upper periphery, with an ornamental wreath of oak and laurel branches tied with a ribbon at the base. The design faithfully reproduces the standard national arms device used on Mexican coinage of the period.
