Obverse description Green note with a central oval portrait vignette of a distinguished gentleman in formal attire, flanked by two allegorical female figures seated at upper left and upper right. A locomotive vignette occupies the lower left corner and a sailing ship vignette the lower right, both rendered in fine intaglio engraving. The denomination '100' appears in large numerals at upper left and upper right, with the bank title 'BANCO DE D. MATTE Y Cª' across the top, serial number '0915' at lower left and lower right, and the payable inscription 'PAGARÁ AL PORTADOR A LA VISTA EN SANTIAGO' above the manuscript denomination 'CIEN PESOS'.

Reverse description Printed entirely in green, the reverse is composed of an intricate guilloche design with a central cartouche bearing the bank name 'BANCO DE D. MATTE Y Cª' in a horizontal oval medallion, surrounded by elaborate lathe-work rosettes and interlocking geometric patterns. The denomination '100' appears in large numerals within circular medallions at the left and right extremities. The imprint 'AMERICAN BANK NOTE COMPANY, NEW YORK' is present at both the top and bottom margins.
