Obverse description The right portion of the note carries the principal vignette in intaglio engraving, with a central allegorical female figure holding a staff and Chilean flag, flanked by a seated female figure at lower left and a mother with child at lower right, all rendered in fine stipple engraving. At lower centre a large guilloche medallion bears the numeral 100, with the titles Contador and Gerente below the respective signature lines. The upper portion bears the bank title EL BANCO DE SANTIAGO and the promise text pagará á la vista al portador en Santiago / CIEN PESOS / moneda corriente, while the left stub panels repeat the bank name, series, and denomination 100$ in letterpress.

Reverse description The reverse is printed entirely in orange, with a vertical format dominated by concentric guilloche lathe-work borders of great intricacy forming an overall engine-turned underprint. Two large numeral panels, each reading 100, appear at the top and bottom of the central field, separated by a ribbon cartouche bearing the inscriptions EL BANCO DE SANTIAGO and CIEN PESOS in bold letterpress over the guilloche ground. The denomination 100 also appears in each corner in smaller figures, and the whole is enclosed within a scalloped ornamental frame.
