Additional information

The 10 Condores denomination was established by Chilean monetary law in 1895, with the condor fixed as a unit equal to 10 pesos gold. The 1907 aluminium striking is almost certainly a pattern or essai — circulating Chilean coinage of this period used gold for high-value denominations, and aluminium had no place in regular issue currency at that face value. The Casa de Moneda produced trial pieces in unconventional metals as part of internal evaluation processes, and this piece fits squarely within that practice.
