Obverse description Standing allegorical figure of Hispania facing right, draped in classical robes and wearing a mural crown, her right arm extended and pointing outward, her left hand holding an olive branch at her side. The figure stands upon a rocky promontory with a coastal landscape in the exergue, flanked by two six-pointed stars at mid-field. The legend ESPANA arcs across the upper field, with the date 1870 inscribed in the lower exergue below a horizontal line. The engraver's signature L. MARCHIONNI appears vertically along the lower left inner field. The coin is framed by a fine beaded border.
