Reverse description The reverse carries a large central intaglio vignette reproducing José Casado del Alisal's celebrated painting 'The Surrender of Bailén', held in the Museo del Prado, Madrid, illustrating the capitulation of French forces following the 1808 battle. The scene is bordered by an ornate blue frame consistent with the obverse surround, with the denomination numeral '100' repeated at lower corners. Lettering across the upper and lower registers identifies the issuing bank and the historical subject.
