Bradbury Wilkinson printed this 1928 issue at a moment of relative political calm in Spain — the Primo de Rivera dictatorship was in its final years, and the Banco de España was maintaining the outward trappings of orthodox central banking. The contract with the London firm reflects a preference, consistent through much of the early twentieth century, for foreign intaglio work over domestic printing capacity.
Pick 76 is reasonably available, though edge wear is common on circulated examples — the 141 × 100 mm format folded easily in wallets and the paper thins predictably along the horizontal crease.
