Additional information

Macau's lunar series issues of the 1980s were produced under the Monetary Authority during a period when the territory was still under Portuguese administration — a status that would not change until the 1999 handover. The 1985 Ox issue was struck for the collector market rather than circulation, part of a broader regional trend in which Hong Kong, Macau, and Singapore competed for the same numismatic buyer base with nearly identical silver specifications.

KM#31 shares its 28.28g/.925 silver format with dozens of Commonwealth-adjacent issues of the decade, a deliberate choice to align with the Royal Mint's standard commemorative module.
