| Obverse description | Central field depicts the outline map of the Guia Street Circuit, the famous urban racing circuit of Macau, rendered in bold relief. The legend 'CIRCUITO DA GUIA' arcs across the upper portion of the circuit map, while the commemorative date range '1954-93' appears in the lower field alongside a small mint privy mark. Chinese characters arc across the upper field reading '第四十屆格蘭披士大賽', with the Chinese numerals '佰' and '壹' flanking the circuit map at left and right respectively. The inscription 'MACAU' is boldly rendered in large letters along the lower rim, with a beaded border encircling the entire design. |

Macau's Grand Prix commemoratives trace back to the Guia Circuit, which has hosted racing since 1954 — making it one of Asia's oldest motorsport venues. The 1993 issue marks the 40th running of the event, a street circuit famous for the Melco hairpin and the narrow Lisboa corner that has ended more than a few championship bids.
