Obverse description A finely modelled high-relief depiction of a sow standing in profile to the left occupies the central field, with a smaller piglet rendered beside her hindquarters, evoking themes of fertility and family prosperity associated with the Chinese zodiac Year of the Pig. The upper arc of the field bears the traditional Chinese legend 中華民國九十六年 (Republic of China Year 96), with the cyclical year designation 丁亥 appearing to the right of the central design. The lower field carries the inscription 中央銀行 (Central Bank) in evenly spaced traditional Chinese characters.

Reverse description The central field features a detailed architectural rendering of the Penghu Tianhou Temple (澎湖天后宮), one of Taiwan's most historically significant Mazu temples, depicted in a frontal elevation showcasing its characteristic sweeping Minnan-style curved roofline with ornate ridge decorations, tiered eaves, and symmetrical wing structures. Above the temple, the two-line Chinese inscription 澎湖 / 天后宮 identifies the subject. In the lower field, the denomination 100圓 is prominently inscribed in large characters, flanked by the Gregorian year 2007 to the left and the purity mark Ag999 to the right.
