Obverse description Central vignette comprises a portrait of Johan Vilhelm Snellman (1806–1881), Finnish statesman, nationalist philosopher, and Finance Minister at the time of the Markka's introduction in 1860. The denomination numeral 100 appears in the centre and at upper right and lower left, with the Litt. A designation printed in purple underprint at upper right. Two signatures appear at bottom centre above the series year, with all inscriptions rendered in Finnish.
