Obverse description Printed on brown paper in dark ink, the obverse is divided into a left column and a main text field. The left column carries two vignettes: the upper one shows the municipal coat of arms of Pößneck with a lion and quartered shield, while the lower one presents a townscape with a church steeple, flanked by the large green numeral '100'. The main field bears the denomination in Gothic script, a bearer clause naming the Stadthauptkasse zu Pößneck i. Thür., a validity notice expiring 15 December 1922, the issue date of 13 September 1922, and two manuscript signatures below the printed designations 'Der Magistrat' and 'Der Gemeinderat', with a small civic seal at lower right.

Pößneck is a small textile-industry town in the Saale-Orla-Kreis, and like hundreds of German municipalities in 1922, its city treasury — the Stadthauptkasse — was forced to issue emergency notes as the Reichsbank failed to supply adequate small-denomination currency during the accelerating inflation. These Notgeld issues were authorized locally and backed by nothing more than the issuing municipality's word, which by mid-1922 was already a precarious guarantee.

The Müller catalog reference places this in the main 1922 Pößneck series. The "b" suffix indicates a distinct paper or print variant from the base type — worth checking the watermark or reverse printing against the "a" before cataloging.
