Additional information

Turkmenistan declared permanent neutrality in 1995 — one of only a handful of countries to hold UN-recognized neutral status, alongside Switzerland and Austria. The designation was reaffirmed by UN resolution in 2015, and the 25th anniversary of that original declaration is the direct occasion for this issue.

The Central Bank has issued commemoratives in tight, low-mintage runs almost exclusively for export and diplomatic gifting; domestic circulation of gold coinage is effectively nonexistent in Turkmenistan.
