Additional information

Turkmenistan's commemorative gold program has long functioned as a vehicle for state messaging, with the Central Bank issuing coins tied directly to government-hosted international events. The First Global Conference on Sustainable Transport, held in Ashgabat in November 2016, was organized under UN auspices — one of the Turkmen government's sustained efforts to position the country as a neutral diplomatic hub following its 1995 UN-recognized permanent neutrality status.

Gold at .916 fineness places this squarely in 22-karat territory, the traditional standard for bullion-adjacent commemoratives from post-Soviet Central Asian mints.
