| Reverse description | The reverse presents a richly textured, high-relief depiction of the Western Wall (Kotel) in Jerusalem, its massive ancient ashlar stonework rendered with striking sculptural realism across the full field of the coin. Vegetation sprouts from between the upper courses of stone, a detail faithfully reproduced from the actual monument. A Hebrew inscription arcs along the upper left field reading כ"ח באייר התשכ"ז, denoting the 28th of Iyar 5727, the Hebrew calendar date corresponding to the reunification of Jerusalem during the Six-Day War. The Gregorian year 1967 appears along the lower arc in Latin numerals. The design commemorates Israel's capture of the Old City of Jerusalem and the Western Wall during the June 1967 conflict. |
