Obverse description A naval anchor overlaid with a ship's steering wheel occupies the central field, surmounted by a mural crown. The circumferential legend reads REPUBBLICA ITALIANA, arranged along the left and right rims respectively. The engraver's signature M. VALLUCCI appears in small letters at the base of the design.

Reverse description The facade of the Accademia Navale di Livorno is depicted in fine detail across the upper portion of the field, with the inscription ACCADEMIA NAVALE visible on the building's entablature. The founding and centennial dates 1881 and 1981 flank the building. In the lower field, the naval ensign of Italy bearing a heraldic shield flies prominently from a mast, with ship's rigging visible to the left. The denomination L. 100 appears along the lower rim, with the engraver's signature MOPPI to the right of centre. The circumferential legend CENTENARIO ACCADEMIA NAVALE DI LIVORNO arcs along the upper border.
