Canevari, whose signature appears at the bust truncation. The circular legend around the periphery reads IOANNES PAVLVS II P.M. AN. IX, with the Roman date MCMLXXXVII completing the inscription in the lower field. The portrait is rendered in a classically restrained style consistent with Vatican coinage of the period. |
