Obverse description The crowned shield of San Marino — displaying three stylised peaks on a plain field — is depicted centrally, flanked on either side by decorative sprigs, an olive branch to the left and an oak branch to the right. The mural crown surmounting the shield features a cross at its apex. The circular legend REPUBBLICA DI SAN MARINO is inscribed around the upper periphery, with the national motto LIBERTAS positioned along the lower border, all rendered in raised Latin capitals.
