Pick 77 is a long-running series that bridges two distinct periods in Honduran monetary management — the controlled-rate economy of the early 1990s and the more liberalized exchange regime that followed the 1994 reforms under which the lempira was allowed to float more freely against the dollar for the first time in decades. The note was in continuous production across that entire shift, with the series absorbing multiple date changes without significant redesign.

A simple watermark is the only security feature, which made the 100-lempira denomination — the highest in common circulation for much of this period — a frequent target for counterfeiting throughout Central America in the late 1990s.
