| Additional information |
Queen Maria of Romania — granddaughter of both Queen Victoria and Tsar Alexander II — played an unexpectedly decisive role at the 1919 Paris Peace Conference, personally lobbying Allied leaders for Greater Romania's territorial claims. Historians credit her charm offensive with influencing the final borders granted under the Treaty of Trianon. Moldova's issuance of a coin honoring her reflects the increasingly open acknowledgment of shared Romanian cultural heritage in a country where that acknowledgment has long carried political weight.
