Obverse description The full coat of arms of the Republic of Latvia occupies the central field, featuring a quartered shield with a rising sun in the upper half and three lions passant in the lower quarters, supported by a lion rampant to the left and a griffin to the right, with oak branches below forming a wreath. Three five-pointed stars arc above the shield. The legend LATVIJAS arcs along the upper rim and REPUBLIKA along the lower rim, both in raised Latin lettering.
