Obverse description Central field dominated by the elaborately calligraphed tughra (imperial monogram) of Sultan Mehmed V, rendered in finely detailed raised relief. The honorific epithet 'el-Ghazi' (the Warrior) appears in Arabic script to the right of the tughra. The design is framed by a decorative wreath of olive and laurel branches encircling the lower portion of the field, while a ring of six-pointed stars runs along the upper periphery within the beaded border.
