Obverse description Central tughra of Sultan Mehmed V, flanked by the honorific epithet 'el-Ghazi' to the right, with the regnal year displayed above. The tughra is executed in fine calligraphic style and enclosed within an ornate wavy foliate wreath that extends around the entire periphery of the coin, imparting a decorative, curvilinear frame to the composition. The field is plain gold, allowing the intricate tughra device to dominate the design.
