| Obverse description | Central field dominated by the elaborate calligraphic tughra of Sultan Abdülmecid I, flanked on either side by floral sprays with blossoms and buds in high relief. Below the tughra, the regnal year is inscribed in Arabic numerals within an open wreath formed by two crossed olive branches tied at the base with a bow. Seven six-pointed stars are arranged in an arc around the upper periphery of the field, outside the wreath, lending a ceremonial framing to the composition. The reeded edge is clearly visible, consistent with milled production at the Constantinople mint. |
