Ingálvur av Reyni was a Faroese painter — not a banknote designer by profession — and his selection for this series was a deliberate cultural statement at a time when Danish monetary institutions were investing in fine art credentials rather than engraving tradition. The result is noticeably painterly by the standards of Scandinavian central bank issues of the period.
Danmarks Nationalbank printed the series in-house, an arrangement the bank had maintained for decades to keep production costs and security control under one roof. The eleven-year issuance window for this Pick 17 type reflects straightforward replacement cycling rather than any currency crisis or reissue event.
