Obverse description The heraldic coat of arms of Göteborg occupies the central field, depicting a crowned lion rampant holding a sword and an orb, set within a quartered shield bearing diagonal bands and three hearts. The shield is rendered in high relief with fine detail. The circular legend LOKALMYNT FÖR GÖTEBORG arcs around the upper portion of the coin, while the denomination 100 KR appears prominently at the base. The inner design is separated from the legend by a beaded border, with decorative dot groupings flanking the lower legend.

Additional information

Issued to mark Göteborg's 350th anniversary, this coin commemorates a city founded by royal charter in 1621 under Gustav II Adolf, who needed a port free from the tolls Denmark levied on Øresund traffic. The Dutch influence on the city's original layout — canals, grid streets, a Dutch-trained workforce — came directly from the engineers Gustav imported to build it.
