Fantasy notes occupy an awkward corner of the hobby, but Matej Gabris has built a small reputation producing high-quality speculative designs that circulate among collectors as display pieces rather than pretenders to legal tender. This piece imagines a Norwegian 100 Kroner denomination honoring Helge Ingstad, the explorer and lawyer who, with his wife Anne Stine, confirmed the Norse settlement at L'Anse aux Meadows in Newfoundland in 1960 — a discovery that predated Columbus's voyage by roughly five centuries.

Gabris issues are printed on proper banknote stock and carry security-style design elements, which occasionally causes confusion at customs. They have no monetary value and no issuing authority behind them.
